In this 55 minute weekly class, students will be taught to code using Minecraft. Every week, there will be a new exciting action-packed project with builds and mobs of all sorts! Each week, we work on a new topic from start to finish so new joiners will not be at a disadvantage. There is a new theme each week. We strongly believe that engaged, happy students are the best learners. Our projects have an end goal, and most are game based. We use coding to solve a problem. We have up to 8 student in this class, allowing the class to be interactive with lots of opportunities to ask questions and share knowledge. What you would need: Please make sure that the learner has downloaded and installed Minecraft Education Edition prior to joining the class (available for PC/Mac/iPAD). NOT suitable for tablets other than iPads. Two devices are ideal (one for zoom and the other to work on). Please check system requirements prior to booking with us if you're not sure. Age Requirement: 7 to 12 No prior coding experience necessary. Minecraft playing experience would be helpful. Parental Guidance: Please note that this class requires students to download Minecraft Education Edition which is an external resource downloaded from the App Store (for iPads) or the Microsoft website for a computer. This app has an age rating of K-12. A sign in is required, but we will give you access to it through our licence. You will receive access details after signing up. Learn block-based Microsoft MakeCode coding similar to Scratch
Use loops and conditionals (IF/THEN/ELSE)
Understand variables (number, Boolean, string)
Create and use functions
Use all of the above to make games and build structures
Other Details
Pre-Requisites
Basic awareness and use of the Minecraft game. Creating a Minecraft world, placing blocks and accessing the inventory. Coding experience is not required.
Supply List
Minecraft Education Edition downloaded and installed on iPad, MacBook, Windows PC or Chromebook (other tablets such as Android are not supported). Please see system requirements under materials. We will provide you with our Minecraft Education Edition login, this is automatically sent through the welcome email, if you do not receive it please contact us in advance of the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
We are a London (England) based team of engineers, coders and developers who specialise in hands on learning. Our approach is project based. We don't teach coding for the sake of coding. We engage the children in coding projects that have a goal that is aligned to the students' interests. We may be new to Outschool, but we are 6 years old and have spent over 6000 hours teaching online since March 2020. We have a 5-star rating on Google and Facebook!
All our instructors have enhanced background checks on an annual basis, and have paediatric first aid certificates that are renewed every 3 years. We are also registered with the information commissioner's office and are general data protection regulation (GDPR) compliant (which means all your personal data is safe when you book with us, and is never shared with anyone else).
