US Grade 7 - 10
In this engaging Outschool class, middle schoolers will uncover the mysteries of trigonometry through live, interactive sessions. We'll delve into: - types of triangles - the Pythagorean theorem -solving triangles -using sine, cosine, and tangent functions -using a scientific calculator. Through hands-on exercises and clear explanations, students will build confidence in applying these concepts to real-world problems. Whether preparing for future math courses or simply curious about triangles, this class will empower students to master trigonometry in a supportive online environment. Students engage with other students as well as with the teacher during live sessions, receiving personalized guidance to deepen their understanding of math concepts. The class starts with brief introductions. Then we move to teaching the content with direct instruction. Students will then be able to practice problems related to the topic that was just taught. At the end, there is a wrap-up game to see what they have learned.
Learning Goals
Understand different types of triangles and their properties.
Apply the Pythagorean theorem to solve for unknown sides.
