In this one-time class, your student will learn how to paper craft! We will begin class with a short art history lesson about sculpture. We will discuss what a sculpture is, and what makes them interesting. From there, we will practice 10 paper crafting techniques. We will use these pieces to create our very own 3D paper sculptures. This class is designed to teach your student to think outside the box – with a little creativity, paper doesn’t have to be flat! Each class will be structured as follows: Introductions (3 mins) Materials Check (2 mins) Art History/Sculpture Discussion (8 mins) Paper Crafting Techniques (12 mins) Create Paper Sculpture (12 mins) Final Remarks (3 mins) Throughout class, students will be called upon to help or answer questions. I will encourage interaction between students and the teacher in many different ways. Materials Needed? *Please see included PDF for a more detailed materials list* - Multiple sheets of colored paper - 1/2 inch and 1 inch strips of colored paper - Glue stick or white glue - Colored Pencils or Markers - A ‘base’ (cardstock, cardboard) *The backing to a construction paper pad works great* - (optional) a cup or circular object to trace - (optional) stapler - (recommended) masking or scotch tape *Please Note: If your child struggles with scissors, it is recommended they have full parental support during class. Homework? Students will be encouraged to complete any unfinished sculptures after class. I will also provide some sculpture challenges to experiment with outside the classroom. How Am I Qualified? I have always excelled at arts and crafts, and I love the challenge of a new project. I studied Landscape Architecture in college and took many courses on drawing, painting, sculpture and art history. Beyond that, I practice art as a hobby and have many different pieces displayed around our home. I have taught in various classrooms and educational settings. For more about me, see my profile! In class, I will share my unique style of crafting with your student! I can’t wait to see what they create! See you in class! -Ms. Andy
Learning Goals
Students will improve their fine motor skills and learn new ways to work with paper as an art medium. They will develop new techniques using scissors, and be encouraged to experiment with them. They will also learn how to define what a sculpture is, and ways they can create one at home.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Andy!
Welcome to my profile!
I am both a landscape architect and a teacher. I have spent many years in different environments working with kids.I have been a violin instructor, camp counselor, Teen DJ, tutor, and most recently a 6th grade math and science teacher. I even lived and worked as an English teacher in South Korea for a year! These experiences have shaped who I am as an educator today.
For the past year, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom to my baby girl and taught online ESL to Chinese students. This experience has given me confidence getting in front of the camera and delivering quality lessons to students of many different ages.
I have plans to create lots of fun Outschool courses! I hope to create courses related to my landscape architecture license. This could range from gardening outside, to watercolor painting, to lessons on computer software such as AutoCAD and Photoshop.
Beyond that, I plan to share my other talents and teach lessons on public speaking, creative writing, and other self esteem boosting activities in small group settings.
In my Outschool classroom, you can expect a confident and creative teacher. I am always well prepared for any class I teach. My classes will focus on creativity and student engagement in a happy and fun environment.
Come check out one of my classes! If you want to learn more about me and my teaching journey, follow me on Facebook 'Educational Andy' and on Instagram '@educationalandy'.
I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
-Andy
