US Grade 2 - 5
This is an individualized and 100% interactive tutoring series where we will meet to work on specific skills that either you identify or that I can identify with some simple evaluation tools. We can meet as often as you like to fit everyone's schedules. Reading and literacy skills are extremely important, and I want all kids to learn the love of reading. Reading helps students excel in all subjects and gives them the confidence to learn in all areas. Once students have reading skills in place, they have the opportunity to work on writing and getting their thoughts into cohesive paragraphs and essays. I have a lively and fun teaching style, having tutored many students in many different venues including face-to-face, virtual, and for tutoring franchises across the country. I can create curriculum if needed and/or support what a student is doing at school. For instance, for an early reader, I can evaluate what phonics skills and sight words need to be strengthened, work on these both with fun drills and literature so that the student loves to read again because it will be fun and not hard! For an older learner, I can review fluency in reading and work on comprehension skills. I am a Library Director, so I can also work through literature assignments or simply use literature that your child loves to help them practice and improve their reading skills, thus escalating their love of reading for a lifetime. Writing is also a love of mine, and I can work with your learner on grammar, puncutation, topic sentences, sentence structure, figurartive language, and paragraph formats. Tutoring works best if you have some ideas of what areas need working on, and I will do the rest to come up with a plan for learning. I love to talk to parents along with the student to help them work together for a high success, low stress experience.
Learning Goals
Students will improve the reading and literacy and/or writing skills that they and their parents and teachers identify as their biggest need.
