In this course we will discuss HTML tags, the building blocks of the internet. We will talk about the structure of webpages, and build one together as we progress through the lesson. We will also touch on CSS stylesheets, and talk about what a layout language like HTML does, compared to other languages which focus on logic like Python or C. We will combine a short lecture with an interactive platform to write some HTML together. At the end of the lesson, students will receive a copy of the HTML code and some reference material reviewing the topics we covered. This class is meant to be a first introduction to HTML and the web, and demystify some of the concepts around how web pages are built.
Learning Goals
Students will learn some theory around how web pages, servers, and the internet work, while at the same time, learning various HTML tags and practicing building a webpage of their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love teaching programming using fun and interesting examples because it helps students go farther than learning hard to contextualize concepts. Understanding what we are doing and why means that students will be able to apply algebraic concepts (like x+y) having understood examples like (red bike + blue bike) in a way that has context and meaning.
