Class Experience

This one time session will show your student how to properly solve any kind of word problem given! We will focus on how to set up the problem, draw a diagram, and show the work to get the answer correct each time.

Throughout my teaching career, my number one observation has been students inability to show work properly results in the poor grades they may be attaining. This lesson is designed specifically to create a repeatable structure your student can use every time they go to solve an algebraic equation.

I am a certified math teacher who has always enjoyed the integrated classroom. Students of all learning styles and abilities are welcome anytime. Real world problems are always incorporated into the lessons, so students will never question "but when am I going to use this in real life?". Learning is a team effort, and it is always nice to make it more of a conversation rather than a lecture. I always enjoy hearing students at least one time, even if it is for a simple addition problem! Students are informed of this preference at the beginning of class, and you would be surprised how the majority of them rise to the task and feel much more accomplished and happy for doing so! It is something that quickly spreads to the other students as well.

My teaching style is engaging and fun, and we discuss topics and work through each problem together instead of simply being lectured. If you have found your student could use more help with this topic, feel free to take a look at my 1:1 private tutoring classes.

Because most students are visual learners, I use an interactive whiteboard for students to be able to see the work for each problem.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to solve word problems using a repeatable, well-designed process that will help them for the rest of their mathematical lives.

Hi there! My name is Peter Panopoulos, a licensed and certified middle school math and science teacher with a Masters Degree in Education. I have been 7 years full time teaching experience, and have tutored subjects from 3rd grade - college level for over 10 years.

I teach many levels of math and science in a fun and engaging way.

Math topics include Elementary Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, and many more.

Science topics include Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Geography, Physics, Psychology, Zoology, and many more.

My biggest joy is helping learners of all ages reach their academic goals and become more confident in their abilities. This is achieved using the differentiated educational methods I learned in my Masters program at Lesley University, and also within my own classroom.

To explain my differentiation in a more detailed way: All learners obtain information differently, and it is up to me, as the teacher, to tailor each lesson in a way that satisfies all these different forms of thinking. I enjoy using multiple real-life examples for learners to see topics from different perspectives. My philosophy is for learners to constantly question things and form their own understanding of them through investigation and guidance. Throughout my 10 years of using these methods, I have found learners become increasingly happier and more confident in their everyday lives. By being able to come up with solutions to problems, learners feel more relaxed and prepared to move forward in their instruction, while increasing their engagement and excitement about life.

In 2018, I finished my last year of full time teaching in the public school setting to travel the world on a motorcycle. During that time, I realized how much I missed working with learners. Since this realization, I have returned full time to online education because of how much I enjoy it and the impact I can see it makes on the learners I work with.

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! I always enjoy speaking with parents and guardians about making learning fun.
