Homework Offered
Each week students will have a specific homework assignment that must be completed in order to get their book published by the final week. Please note that in order to keep things simple for students and adults, the teacher will be doing the heavy lifting of formatting and cover template design-- neither of which can be done if the final book text isn't turned in by week three. To ensure your student has a wonderful experience and finished the class with a book they're proud of, please be prepared to spend a bit of time with them getting things ready to go!2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

Each week students will have a specific homework assignment that must be completed in order to get their book published by the final week. Please note that in order to keep things simple for students and adults, the teacher will be doing the heavy lifting of formatting and cover template design-- neither of which can be done if the final book contents aren't turned in by week three. To ensure your student has a wonderful experience and finished the class with a book they're proud of, please be prepared to spend a bit of time with them getting things ready to go! Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class! -For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging and social experience, students are required to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class, positioned such that we can both hear and see them. Please be sure to prepare your student for this requirement before class begins! -Students are asked not to use filters or virtual backgrounds-- though if there is an important reason to use a virtual background, please just let me know ahead of time that your student will be using one (no questions asked!). -Students will be asked to introduce themselves by sharing their name, pronoun, and a favorite book. -The Zoom text chat is set to "host only", meaning students can chat with me, but not to one another or the entire classroom.
Adults will need to create (free!) accounts on BNPress.com and/or kdp.amazon.com to publish their learner's work. The teacher will provide detailed screen shots of exactly how to navigate these! Students are also strongly encouraged to use a program like Canva to design their cover, as a specific size/template is needed. Canva is also free!
