Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
If you've ever wanted to have a pet snail, this class is for you! Snails make great, low maintenance pets and it is the perfect season for finding them out and about in nature. They are so much fun to watch as they cruise about and munch on treats.

In this class students will learn:
-How to set up a proper enclosure for their pet snail and decorating tips
-Where to find snails
-What snails can and can't eat
-Cleaning their enclosure and other maintenance tips

I'll even introduce my very own snail friend, so you can see just how much fun having a snail can be.

The class will include a hand out sheet that has lists of supplies, links to buy the supplies on Amazon, as well as care tips talked about in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!

My name is Emily and I am a veterinarian in the UK. I came from the United States where I did my undergraduate degree in Animal Sciences, then came to Scotland to become a veterinarian. I just upgraded to doctor in June of 2024!

When I'm not studying up on all of the cool clinical cases, I am outside hiking, rock climbing, or camping. I love sharing my passion for everything veterinary medicine with the next generation.

I have a lot of experience teaching students of all ages. Not only am I a licensed tutor for both high school and college aged students, I have been:
-A teacher and camp counselor at an educational science summer camp (ages 4-12)
-The program leader for an early reading group (ages 3-5)

My teaching style is very student-centered and fun. While I like to have a detailed lesson plan, the key to engaging my students is forming the lesson around their learning styles and interests.
