I'm Ms. Riot, a creative teacher (certified, qualified and experienced) from London, England. My teaching adventure began at university with the completion of my 4-year degree (Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Primary Education) back in 2007. In the UK, we achieve our QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) through additional exams and proven experience which I also achieved in 2007. As an elementary classroom teacher in the UK, I am qualified and experienced in teaching history to students of this age. History is in our National Curriculum, which is the legal document that all public schools must deliver curriculum to support. The National Curriculum states that when teaching history: "Teaching should equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time." More recently, I have worked within the learning department in a large museum, teaching at a range of online schools and designing curriculum for education resource companies. I also deliver lectures to trainee teachers. At the heart of my teaching philosophy lies a belief that learning should be an adventure, sprinkled with curiosity and laughter. We can be serious about learning without it always being too serious.

The lessons are about crime and punishments. Both the crimes and punishments are presenetd in an age-appropriate way, but of course are about potentially upsetting content.
I deliver this curriculum content from an educational curriculum company called Grammarsaurus. I edit each lesson to include more factual information from the BBC, Twinkl, The Museum of London, Oak National Academy, The National Curriculum, The Historical Association. I include primary and secondary sources and discuss how we and historians can evaluate sources and their reliability. Where possible, multiple narratives and perspectives and shown to help learners understand the depth of human experience.
