Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(103)
Learn about the history of the city of Hiroshima and what it means to Japan, America and the World.

Class experience

- Students will learn about the various perspectives throughout the history of Hiroshima.
- Students will begin to develop their observation and listening skills as they hear different perspectives.
- Students will develop their curiosity muscle and learn to never stop seeking more information
In my academic life, I have written several research papers around the perspectives involved in not just Hiroshima, but throughout other prefectures such as Okinawa and Kagoshima. I've lived in and visited all locations and have extensive experience working with both Japanese and American students discussing both perspectives surrounding WWII. I've also facilitated several courses for GPI US that focus on Discovering New Perspectives whether it be through the art we see or how we look at situations in our daily life.

This class is meant not to educate your students on what is "right" and what is "wrong", but to explore our own perspective while learning about a historical event.
Hiroshima's history is tragic and in order to properly convey the perspective of many of those involved, we'll be covering the atomic bombing. In telling the perspective of the lives lost in Hiroshima, I will be showing a few images that while not "graphic", are for more mature audiences and may be uncomfortable to hear about for some students. If you have further questions, please feel free to message me.
