The student will learn time saving strategies in their approach toward the studying for the exams.
I am a certified (7-12) Social Studies teacher and have taught a variety of honors level courses (AS/A Level, KS3, GCSE, I.B. and A.P.) in both private and public schools over the past 30 years. Historical writing, source analysis, and exam preparation as well as an immersive approach to the study of history has made my classes both meaningful and enjoyable. My tutoring experience has spanned the entire 21st century with ACT, SAT, SSAT, ISEE, A.P. Histories, and Subject Tests.
This is intended to be a structured tutorial. Students will be assigned specific, relevant readings to be completed prior to the beginning of the next session. Note taking on all readings is expected and these notes should be handy for the lesson. Practice exam questions and source analysis exercises will be both homework and used in class for instruction.
The "work" assigned should be interpreted as "independent practice" - there will be NO busy work, thus every assignment is meant to advance the learners knowledge and skills closer to their goal.
All specific course material (readings, primary sources, etc.) will be provided by the instructor. IF students are enrolled in a KS3/GCSE course of study, we will use those texts as a base and the instructor will provide extended readings and other tasks to enhance the secondary level course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Depending upon the goals of the parent and learner for this tutorial assessment can take on many different variations. Ideally, these assessments are completed outside of class time, evaluated by the instructor with both written feedback and discussion as to student performance during the class. Any assessment in this tutorial will be evaluated in terms of the most current marking schemes and best current practices gleaned from examiner's reports.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This is a Classical History topic - accounts of violence may be present in certain primary source readings. Statuary, mosaics and frescoes will be used as artifact studies.
All specific course material (readings, primary sources, etc.) will be provided by the instructor.
