Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
During our Music Appreciation, we will learn about a different composer or musical instrument each week. During Music Theory will will learn about the different symbols on the Grand Scale and learn to read music. And the best part - vocal training! We'll start with warmups and learn pieces of songs each week, building our repertoire.
My first loves as a child were music, visual arts, and culinary arts. I won several contests as a child and started helping with my Mother's catering business at eight.
As a teen, I added performing arts to my interests, and began teaching ballet at fifteen to pay for my classes. I began college a year early at seventeen as a music, theatre, and dance major, receiving a grant my second semester, also adding martial arts to the mix. Although a double knee injury ended my chances of a dance or martial arts career, I continued to teach into my mid-twenties.
Eventually, I narrowed my focus to music, receiving an apprenticeship at a large recording studio in Atlanta. This experience presented the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in music both in studio and even on tour. Throughout my young adult life, I performed original music both solo and with my band in Atlanta, LA, Boston, and NYC. The biggest crowd I performed in front of was 6000 people, singing the National Anthem at a boxing match! I even ended up with a TV show for over a year on Manhattan Neighborhood Network. It was all simply amazing.
Eventually the excitement of "almost famous" wore off. I returned to Georgia, and to my love of culinary arts, opening my own restaurant, which won six states awards for original recipes over the years and was well loved by the locals. The restaurant also kept me involved in music, hosting karaoke, booking bands, and often being invited on stage to sing. After starting a family, however, I decided to sell the business after eight successful years and focus on my children
I've also been a homeschool Mom and tutor for ten years! I currently enjoy calmer days, singing and playing guitar with my church choir and children's programs. This past decade has given back the opportunity to teach music and dance at the different co-ops we've been involved with.
In all, I simply love art, and I love sharing and teaching. I look forward to getting to know you!
