In this fun and interactive multi-day class, we will be learning several different parts of grammar. Classes will be twice a week for 35 minutes each for five weeks. Below is an outline of which lessons we will be learning per week. Week 1: Nouns and Verbs Week 2: Adjectives and Adverbs Week 3: Pronouns and Synonyms/Antonyms Week 4: Contractions and Conjunctions Week 5: Compounds (Sentences and Words) and Review/Game/Fun last class :) In this class, no prior knowledge is necessary, as we will cover each lesson from the beginning starting at learning the definition of each word. We will begin our first week with an easy warm up class and learn how we will log in to our class lessons on Nearpod. The first week will cover nouns and verbs. We will start with these two and build off of them in coming lessons, so while these might be a review for some students, it is important we ensure we know the definition inside and out. Each class, after students have grasped what each word means, we will practice our knowledge through open-ended questions, games, videos, and writing/drawing activities. At the end of each class we will have a small wrap up, ensuring that each student firmly grasps the information we learned in class. We will have a solo activity during our wrap up in which students can showcase their knowledge. During our last class, we will review any lessons that students had difficulty with and have a general review. Then we will play some educational grammar games for a fun last class :)
Learning Goals
Students will learn the following types of grammar: Adjectives, Adverbs, Nouns, Verbs, Compounds, Contractions, Conjunctions, Synonyms, Antonyms, and Pronouns.
