Hello, and thank you for your interest in Harry Potter Newspaper Report Writing self-paced class! This is an asynchronous class with no live Zoom meetings. In this class students will learn all of the key elements in a newspaper report through an interactive Pear Deck lesson, including: 1. What is a newspaper report? 2. What makes a good newspaper report? 3. How are newspaper reports written? 4. Pictures and Captions 5. Catchy Headlines 6. The Introductory Paragraph 7. The Main Events 8. Direct and Reported Speech 9. The Closing Paragraph Students will practice what they learned by analyzing an example newspaper report, also through an interactive Pear Deck lesson. Finally, students will be giving prep materials for writing their own report for The Hogwarts Herald, select their topic and report title, and begin their newspaper report writing. After completing their report, students will upload their final report for evaluation. All of the lessons, examples, and topic selections are within the theme of the Harry Potter Wizarding World. Parental Guidance
We will be using Pear Deck as an external resource in this class. There will be two separate Pear Deck lessons. Pear Deck allows teachers to create interactive lessons in order to keep students involved and engaged during class. No account creation or login is required. I will provide the links to the Pear Deck lessons and the student simply needs to click on the link to access the interactive content.
Will will also be using Google Forms as an external resource in this class. Google Forms will be used once during class for the student to submit their newspaper article topic and title selection. No account or login is required. I will provide the Google Form link and the students simply needs to click on the link to access and fill out the three question form to submit their topic idea.
