US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
In this two session class, learners will practice printing numerals. Handwriting Without Tears is a developmentally appropriate method used to teach handwriting to young children. This method focuses on using verbal cues and simple strokes to teach letters and numerals. Students will learn that all numerals can be written using simple and repetitive strokes. For example, the number "2" is taught using the terms "big curve and little line." Students will practice forming the numerals using play-doh and writing on a dry erase boards. I will model and teach the strokes for numbers 1-5 for the first class, and then 6-10 for the next class. I will encourage each writer along the way. At the completion of this class, the learner will have a good foundation for correct numeral writing.
Learning Goals
This class is designed for learners just beginning to recognize and write numerals. The pace will be slower than that of the "Handwriting Without Tears: Intermediate Level." If your child is just learning the proper strokes for printing numerals or if your child struggles with writing, this class is appropriate for them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As an experienced kindergarten and preschool teacher, I understand the need for handwriting methods that are fun and engaging! Oftentimes, handwriting is somewhat overlooked in school curriculum due to other subjects that are more time consuming. Students will enjoy developing this fine motor skill in my class!
