US Grade 9
This is intended to be part of a series. While you do not need to take the series from me you will need an idea of the material in these other classes. It is just harder to just slide into it half way through. A lot of people might think you just jump to a higher classes it will be easier. When the classes get harder the previous learning is a necessary step to later learning. Vocabulary, background, and previous steps are necessary. - The first class is Biology and all about several scientific processes like diffusion, active transport, then move on to cells and cellular organelles. - The second class is Genetics I, we will be going over cell growth, cell cycle, cancer, basic meiosis, standard mendelliam genetic, crosses, and punnett squares. - The third class is Genetics II, we will be going over cellular protein manufacturing, transcription, translation, genetic change, and when heredity follows different rules. All previous learning will come quickly as its ment to be a review and act as a spring board to new topics and new learning. We will start with a look at cell size, DNA, its replication, In the second session we will talk about some problems that can crop up, then we will move on to Mendel and meiosis. We will talk about meiosis and passing on of traits by normal mendellian genetics, a bit on sex linked traits and finish with a case study on Royal Hemophilia.
Learning Goals
Students will understand the basics of genetics, they will be ready to dive a little deeper into our genetics gene pool.

Other Details
Parental Guidance
This is scientific and very G-rated. We will be talking about the noun of sex (scientific boys n girls), not the verb (the act of making babies, but they should understand the theory, I will NOT be teaching that.).
Pre-Requisites
An understanding of Cellular Biology
Supply List
Nothing more than an inquiring mind and a desire to learn.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
I will be providing chapters of a book and additional reading.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Indiana Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education
2 Degrees
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Indiana University
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Indiana University
I have been teaching genetics for years. I love teaching advanced topics. I have mated fruit flies and tracked mutation across their family trees.
