In this self paced course there will be 3 projects that you will create while following along walkthrough guides that will range roughly between 10-15 minutes long. These classes can be paid weekly with the first 4 classes (The 2D Platformer Microgame) being covered in only 2 weeks, allowing you to get a better understanding of what the class experience will be like before investing in the remaining 6 classes (The FPS Microgame and creating your own 3D Project). Both Microgames are developed by Unity with the purpose of teaching Unity and how to develop games with their engine. While these Microgames have built-in Tutorials, we will NOT be following those tutorials and will instead go into more details about the core fundamentals of Unity as a whole. At the end of the course, many of the concepts that were learned in the previous videos will be implemented during the process of creating and customizing their own 3D Project. These classes will be ideal for anyone wanting to learn game development regardless of skill level, including no experience at all! Each video will go over every step of the process as we both show and explain everything that you would need to know in order follow along. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us and we will assist as best we can.

***COPPA COMPLIANCE - PARENTS PLEASE READ:***
Please keep in mind that most Game Development software and resources are NOT COPPA-compliant. However, the resources that I would recommend will always be FREE, and SAFE to download.
Most software also go through frequent updates to stay as secure and user-friendly as possible. Because of this, some of the class recordings might slightly different experiences and navigations than what you will be performing. For example, this class is recorded using a Windows computer with a different UI layout than what Mac computers will experience.
Being able to understand what is required, even with alternative or outdated information, is a highly important skill to have as a developer.
But do not forget our instructors are always available to answer any questions or concerns that you may have!
***CLASS PACING - PARENTS PLEASE READ:***
Game Development and Software Development in general can take years with large teams that all have multiple years of experience with development. Because of this, it is important to be patient and understand that learning software design takes time and practice like any other art skill, and learning programming takes years of repetition and implementation because it is quite literally another language.
The class will go at a pace that encourages a strong fundamental understanding of the concepts, along with introducing as many aspects as possible within the short time frame. If you feel like some of the information is too much at once, PLEASE reach out for assistance, and we will be more than happy to assist.
Pre-Requisites
Unity only works reliably on Windows and Mac computers. It will NOT run on a Chromebook.
An understanding on how to use Zoom and the ability to share their screen will be required if there are any questions about their project.
Supply List
For this course, students will use the Unity Game Engine. To install the Unity Game Engine you must first install Unity Hub (https://unity.com/download#how-get-started). After installing Unity Hub make certain to run the program and follow the instructions to sign in or create your Unity ID. Unity runs on most Windows and Mac machines but the better your video card (GPU) and the more RAM you have (8GB bare minimum) the better the experience (regardless of platform). Visual Studio Community has the most support for the programming, so if you are on a Windows computer, it is recommended to use Visual Studio Community rather than VS Code. URLs for some of the FREE software used in this class: Used to manage your games, and versions of Unity Game Editors Unity Hub - https://unity.com/download#how-get-started Used for Programming, can be downloaded directly from Unity Hub Visual Studio Community - https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/community/ VS Code - https://code.visualstudio.com/?wt.mc_id=vscom_downloads
