1 hour per week. Each week, students should read (1-2) chapters from the book in order to be prepared to actively participate in classroom discussion. Vocabulary, question and summary activities will be assigned to different students weekly.Class Experience
Advanced Level
-This class is designed to encourage young readers to commit and follow through on finishing a book while delving into insightful conversations about the content with peers. El Soñador is a book about a young boy who seems to always be daydreaming. He loves collecting things and he loves words. Though his father does not share his love for storytelling, he does not let that stop him from embarking on a journey of self discovery which helps transform him into the world renowned poet, Pablo Neruda. -Chapters will be read at home. Students should come to each meeting prepared to dicuss the chapters as stated below. Week 1 : La lluvia &El Viento Week 2: El Lodo & El Bosque Week 3: El Árbol & La Piña Week4 : El Río & El Mar Week 5: La Laguna Week 6: El Amor & La Pasión Week 7: El Fuego Week 8: Book Report During each meeting the teacher will lead a time of discussion pertaining to the chapters that were assigned. We will cover the following criteria: -first impressions -a summary of the assigned reading -questions to verify that the assigned reading was done -questions for reading comprehension -discussions for analysis/critical thinking skills ⭐ Students will be in charge of one of the criteria each week. Learning Goals
-Students will commit to and finish a whole book: El Soñador.
-Students will encourage each other through classroom interaction and by working as a team toward the end goal of finishing the book as a class.
-Students will understand the characters, plot, setting and overall theme of the book through class discussions.
-Students will be inspired to continue reading on their own.

Each student will need there own copy of the book. It is available on Amazon and a variety of bookstores.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Puerto Rico
Teacher Zia is an avid reader. She is native Spanish speaker who has taught with the Department of Education in Puerto Rico and also has two college degrees from the University of Puerto Rico.
