-This class is designed to encourage young readers to commit and follow through on finishing a book while delving into insightful conversations about the content with peers. El Soñador is a book about a young boy who seems to always be daydreaming. He loves collecting things and he loves words. This class is taught in Spanish.
-Students will commit to and finish a whole book: El Soñador. -Students will encourage each other through classroom interaction and by working as a team toward the end goal of finishing the book as a class. -Students will understand the characters, plot, setting and overall theme of the book through class discussions. -Students will be inspired to continue reading on their own.
Teacher Zia is an avid reader. She is native Spanish speaker who has taught with the Department of Education in Puerto Rico and also has two college degrees from the University of Puerto Rico.
Homework Offered
Each week, students should read (1-2) chapters from the book in order to be prepared to actively participate in classroom discussion. Vocabulary, question and summary activities will be assigned to different students weekly.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Each student will need there own copy of the book. It is available on Amazon and a variety of bookstores.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Student should purchase their own copy of the book El Soñador by Pam Muñoz Ryan and Peter Sís. The book can be digital, new or used.
