Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
In this 6-week flexible schedule class, students will create a story all about themselves while learning about autobiographies. Students will develop their writing skills as they reflect on what makes them who they are by following various writing prompts each week. Students will have access to a new lesson each week that will guide them through the current assignment. Students will be given activities to find out more about their own interests and personalities, writing prompts, and graphic organizers to help them draft short personal essays. The weekly topics for the course will be as follows: Week 1 - What is an Autobiography? Week 2 - Who I Am Week 3 - Plans for the Future Week 4 - Funny Stories Week 5 - Personal Achievements Week 6 - Completing and Sharing Final Drafts Throughout the course, learners will have regular interaction with the teacher, and will receive personalized feedback on all weekly assignments. Learners will also be able to interact with one another by answering discussion questions in the classroom, and sharing work with one another to give and receive peer feedback. Learners can share fun facts about themselves with their peers, if they wish. This will build rapport amongst classmates and allow learners to discover potential similarities with their peers, as well as celebrate their individual uniqueness. In the last week, learners will have the opportunity to share their completed autobiographies. Students can post their completed written work, or video record themselves reading their work aloud if they choose to. Students are encouraged to give positive feedback on at least one other classmate’s final work.
