Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Tuesday 1:30-2:30 Eastern time: Somone participates in a demonstration

Flash fiction is a short short story, but it includes character and story development despite its shortness. A flash fiction story is supposed to grab the reader and include both strong and beautiful writing. Writing a great flash fiction story can be tricky, but it is also very rewarding because the genre teaches us to become better writers.

This class is divided into three sections

15 minutes brainstorming ideas and talking about the weekly theme

25 minutes to write a flash fiction story

20 minutes to share the story with the other students

Week 1: Someone is walking in a city thinking about something that upset them recently

Week 2: A fairy gets their wings and learns how to fly

Week 3: Someone receives a letter with surprising news

Week 4: An elderly person works in their garden thinking about a memory from their childhood

Week 5: A child's first day at school

Week 6: Somone participates in a demonstration

Week 7: A pet sits by the window waiting for their owner to come home

Week 8: Someone bakes a pie

Week 9: A doctor saves someone's life

Week 10: An alien sees a human for the first time

The student needs to be able to either write or type a story during the class and be willing to share their writing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
In my creative writing classes, I encourage students to draw from their experiences and thoughts to create unique pieces and share my passion for writing. This passion has been recognized with four awards for a short story and three poems, which I hope will inspire your students.

I am an immigrant from Sweden with a master's degree in education from Lund/Malmö University.
I am dedicated to forming connections with my students and customizing my teaching to suit their age. I aim to challenge my students while ensuring they never feel like failures. Patience, humor, and kindness are paramount in my approach.

As a teacher, I foster critical thinking through various activities such as research and discussions. The most rewarding part of my job is igniting my students' joy of learning and nurturing their curiosity about the world.

I believe in incorporating play into my teaching whenever possible, as I believe that everyone, regardless of age, has a playful side.

I have previously taught social and political science, religion, and geography and have nearly 25 years of experience working with children of different ages.

My diverse interests include folklore, photography, nature, books, and history, particularly on overlooked historical figures. I hope to share these interests with your students, sparking their curiosity and broadening their horizons.

I eagerly look forward to having your student in my class and am excited to embark on this learning journey together!
