Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
This class follows the Basic Language Skills curriculum from Neuhaus Education Learning Center . Basic Language Skills is a systematic, sequential, intensive comprehensive literacy curriculum to be used with students identified with special needs in learning to read and spell. It is particularly effective with dyslexic or reading disabled students. The class will begin with a pre-assessment and based on that pre-assessment it will determine where in the program your child should begin the curriculum. We will work as quickly as we can but take as much time as needed for the students. The following is an example of the concepts. They are concepts 1-8 but this is subjective to the individual child's needs.

Week 1- Getting to know students and pre-assessment
Week 2- Concept 1 i=(i), 2 t=(t), 3 concept of a syllable
Week 3- Concept 4 concept of an open syllable, 5 concept of closed syllable blending, 6 p= (p=
Week 4- Concept 7 n=(n), 8 s=(s)
Week 5- Concept 9 concept of a suffix, 10 s=s, 11 a=(short a)
Week 6- Concept 12 a= (short u)-2 days, 13 s=z
Week 7- Concept 13 cont., 14 l=(l), 15 reading contractions and possessives
