Class Experience

Students will learn the color wheel order and then some color theory vocabulary by creating a visual representation of the definitions. I believe that this experiential way helps students learn the fundamentals that will be useful for their art journey.
1) a 7 inch, round paper plate, flat as possible is best. The sturdy type work great.
Alternate options: a 9-10 inch paper plate or a heavy weight paper that has been cut into a 7-9 inch circle before class begins.
2) a ruler or a sturdy straight-edged object that will perform like a ruler...examples: a book, index card or a flat box.
3) Medium preferred: a package of 12 colored pencils. Students will need: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet. Alternate options: colored markers.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I like sharing with my students the color wheel song found on YouTube by Scratch Garden called the Advanced Colors song. It is fun and makes the learning of the definitions easy.
