Class Experience

Each weekly, I will read a fairy tale and pose a new challenge question for students to figure out. Students may join the class at any time. Our class structure will be as follows:
- Research the challenge question
- Design our creation using paper and pencil
- Build a creation using materials in our maker spaces (materials from around the house)
- Test the creation to see if we mastered the challenge
- Rebuild if the creation did not past the challenge test

During our STEM club, I will use guiding questions and encourage students to come to answers on their own or through collaboration with peers in the class. Students will be encouraged to take risks and reflect on why their creation did or did not pass the challenge. They will be encouraged to try again if they did not meet the challenge the first time.

Listed below are the challenges for each week. Each book that goes with the challenge can be found on Reading A to Z:
Week 1 - January 3 - The Three Little Pigs House Challenge
Week 2 - January 10 - Goldilocks Bed Challenge
Week 3 - January 24 - Rapunzel Escape Challenge
Week 4 - January 31 - Ant and Grasshopper Wheelbarrow Challenge
Week 5 - February 7 - Jack and the Beanstalk Parachute Challenge
Week 6 - February 14 - Cinderella Castle Challenge
Week 7 - February 28 - Red Riding Hood Basket Challenge
Week 8 - March 7 - Little Red Hen Zipline Challenge
