Class Experience

Did you know that 41,000,000 Americans speak Spanish? Learning Spanish will open up so many social and professional opportunities for students! There is also data to suggest that students who learn a second language develop strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Learning Spanish has helped enrich my life as a learner and teacher. My family is from Honduras, so I grew up around Spanish language, but I wanted to learn more and live in a Spanish speaking country. As a junior in college, I lived in Spain with a Spanish family and explored the language and culture. I have a B.A. in Spanish, and I want to share my enthusiasm for language learning with you. Let me help you on your journey to learning Spanish and about Spanish speaking countries around the world!

Each week we will learn new Spanish vocabulary and discuss culture. Students will be challenged to practice pronunciation in a low risk environment. Students will also develop confidence as we navigate the class.

Florida Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
I have taught middle and high school Spanish since 2006. I am a certified Spanish and English teacher in the state of Florida through 2024. I have a BA in both Comparative Literature (study of cultural expression through literature) & Spanish Language and Literature from Hamilton College. I lived in Spain with a Spanish family for half my junior year and attended El Instituto Internacional in Madrid. My mother’s side of the family is from Honduras so I was raised in a Spanish speaking household filled with traditional food and culture.

I earned my Master of Science for Teachers in Adolescent Education from Pace University. I am also a Professor of Education at Valencia College. I authored, Get Between Your Teen and the Screen, and co-authored the interactive student guide, Dream, Create, Activate: Create Your Master Plan to Discover and Fulfill Your Dreams. I love teaching Spanish!
