Let's jump into the world of Building Science by learning about Climate Ready Homes. A climate ready home is a home that is prepared for climate change. Climate change is causing worsening weather patterns and the next generation of homes should be ready for these changes. In this one-time class, we will cover: 1. Climate Ready Home Overview 2. I have a degree in Environmental Engineering and hold several building certifications including a certification on Net-zero Energy Homes.
We will talk about climate change, extreme weather events, and how they can impact reisdential homes. Ex: The worsening wildfires can put homes at risk. We will talk about ways to harden homes against wildfires by firescaping (landscaping for fire resistance) and selecting certain non-flammable building materials.
