In this class, students will learn about two artists, Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Together, they transformed natural and urban landmarks by wrapping them in fabric, surrounding them with material, and even hanging cloth over them. One of their goals was to make people notice and appreciate the beauty of their everyday environment. Students will listen to a teacher's created story, view and discuss a few of Cristo's and Jeanne-Claude's most famous artworks, and consider the question, what is...
Students will: • learn some facts about Christo and Jeanne-Claude • discuss what art is • practice their observation skills • exercise their fine motor skills while working on an art project • use their imagination
Supply List:
1. 1 SMALL cookware item (saucepan, skillet, pot lid, etc) Note: it won’t be damaged!
2. Sheet of aluminum foil (about 2 feet long)
3. Wrapping paper OR newspaper (optional)
4. Ribbons, cords, yarn, or shoe laces
5. Bows (optional)
6. Scissors
7. Scotch tape
8. 1 or 2 of the following items:
• old t-shirt
• old pillowcase
• bright fabric
• thin towel
• plastic trash bag
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
