Class Experience

Join Teacher Chimmy and learn to draw Encanto’s Mirabel, Isabela, Antonio, & Dolores (from the shoulders up) all on your own schedule! In this 4-week flex class (pre-recorded classes), I will be demonstrating the step-by-step guide that I personally created to draw these loveable Encanto characters.

And, if you’re wondering… YES! I will be dressed as Mirabel & Isabela in these lessons.

While learning to draw Mirabel, Isabela, Antonio, & Dolores will be the primary focus, I will be incorporating quick breaks between the drawing steps where I discuss some fun facts about the specific characters that we are drawing, like what inspired producers to give Isabela her magical gift. Students are encouraged to follow along with the step-by-step drawing instructions, but are also welcome to have creative freedom with their drawings as well.

The goal for this class is for your little artist to build their confidence in character drawing and to have a piece of art which they created that they are proud of. Let’s have fun drawing together!

This flex class focuses on these following art skills:
- Cartoon style portrait development (face drawing)
- Basic shaping for facial features via a step-by-step guide
- Tips for sketching & coloring hair
- Coloring detail & blending

Week 1: Drawing Mirabel (I’ll be dressed as Mirabel)
This lesson will cover the 12 steps to drawing Mirabel. I'll also be discussing some fun facts about Mirabel and what she has in common with another popular Disney Princess.

Week 2: Drawing Antonio (I’ll be dressed as Mirabel)
This lesson will cover the 10 steps to drawing Mirabel’s adorable little cousin, Antonio. I'll be throwing some fun facts about his pet animals: Chispi and Parce.

Week 3: Drawing Dolores (I’ll be dressed as Mirabel)
This lesson will cover the 12 steps to drawing Mirabel’s cousin, Dolores.

Week 4: Drawing Isabela (I’ll be dressed as Isabela)
This lesson will cover the 12 steps that I've created for drawing Mirabel’s older sister, Isabela. I'll also discuss what inspired producers to give her her magical gift.

I’ve spent several weeks developing these drawing steps to ensure that students can easily follow along with each step.
Alongside each drawing step, student’s will watch a recorded video of myself explaining each step in detail while they draw. I will also be going over some tips and tricks on coloring with colored pencils and how to make their drawing appear more realistic through the use of blending.

Optional Interactive Class Experience:
Outside of these recorded lessons, students may participate in Outschool classroom discussions or just simply choose to enjoy the recorded lessons.

For students that prefer a more social connection to this class, I encourage them to share their answers to such questions as: “Who is your favorite Madrigal family member/Why? Who do you think has the best or worst magical gift? What was the easiest or most difficult drawing step from this week's lesson? Students will also have the opportunity to show off their work (if they chose to) by uploading it into the classroom.

I enjoy communicating with students and will respond regularly to questions and comments. I will be reaching out in the Outschool classroom to check in with students and answer any questions they may have about the steps.

Homework:
The homework assignments will be simple because they will only consist of the student sending me their completed drawing of each character.

Materials needed for class:
-#2 Pencil
-8x10 sheet of paper (or larger)
-small eraser
-colored pencils preferably (crayons are acceptable for younger children)
-clipboard or flat surface to draw on

I look forward to seeing your Encanto lover in my class!

Note: Please take into consideration that this class will have spoilers about the movie if the student has not watched or is not familiar with Disney’s Encanto.
