In this one-time class, learners will be guided through puzzles and challenges in the storytelling tabletop role playing game Dungeons & Dragons 5e.
Class experience
In this Dungeons & Dragons game, the game is run by the teacher or Game Master (GM) who guides the story, while the learners are players controlling characters they've designed themselves. Every night, the headless rider appears in the local graveyard and begins his ride through the town proper seeking his missing, stolen helm. Any who come across him find themselves at the sharp end of his blade. Thus, when the sun sets, the town shelters, waiting the rider out until the sun drives him back...
Students will work together in cooperative puzzles and adventures to improve their story-telling, character building, social and critical thinking skills. During dice rolls, we will also be using very basic addition and subtraction.
I am an experienced DM who has guided many beginner and advanced players through learning the basics of Dungeons and Dragons.

Please be aware: table-top RPGs are full of surprises and improvisation. They may be rated PG due to fantasy violence, magic, scary themes. I will be keeping the game as family friendly as possible but there will be fantastic battles and possible character injuries. If your learner needs help creating a character, I will be directing them to D&D Beyond, which is a free and safe resource for D&D players.
