Class Experience

This is a laid back class that is meant to be a “hang out” group to talk about/create characters together. There is no pressure; go at your own pace or stick with the group. It is all up to you! I will be highlighting step-by-step instructions to show one way to create what is being worked on at the time, but students may tackle it however they individually choose. The students can list off some favorites, and then we can all decide which one we want to take a shot at creating on our own. I will start with easier, circle shaped simple ones most likely, and then we may gradually transition into more difficult choices with many attributes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I’m Teacher Chris from Michigan! I work with ESL learners to help with adapting to English speaking, whether that be pronunciation, grammar, or language skills. If you love Nintendo, Mario, Pokémon, or Zelda we’ll get along fine!

I currently work as a Sylvan instructor in Ann Arbor, Michigan’s institute, which has given me a strong foundation on how impactful individual tutoring sessions can be for reading, writing, mathematics, ACT/SAT prep, etc. in children that are struggling a bit (ages 6-16). I also am teaching Chinese kids online at VIPKid/Magic Ears with ESL sessions. I student taught for 8th grade classes at Northwest School near Jackson, Michigan throughout 2019/2020, and this mainly focused on going through a full ongoing novel discussion (City of Ember) while also dealing with Manifest Destiny and the Oregon Trail, so I was able to combine historical and literary subjects while switching curriculum. I tutored college students in writing a bit as well at Jackson College throughout 2013/2014, and I have volunteered as a guidance instructor at Kumon in 2018.

I graduated from Baker College’s 5 year education program with a double major in English and Social Studies for secondary students in 2020. I am certified and have passed both MTTC examinations as well. I currently work at Sylvan strengthening my skills with one-on-one tutoring settings (virtual and in-person). I have a TESOL and a TEFL having much experience teaching English as a second language.
