Students will learn to accept getting messy and making mistakes as a way to experiment with finding their voice. Students will learn basic drawing principles for different anime styles while being challenged with some basic to intermediate techniques. Students will learn shading, perspective, and proportion sizes through the nine principles of drawing. Students will learn how simple shapes can help to create their style and independent voice. The class can be challenging, so each student will have the opportunity to practice mindfulness during the class's practice portion.
I have several years of experience with art teaching in co-ops, homeschool, and private tutoring. I try to incorporate mindfulness, creativity, and freedom into all of my classes. My teaching philosophy is that all students are individuals and unique learners that must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. I desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and where mistakes are considered educational victories.
