Class Experience

In this one time class, the teacher will guide students to create a pizza. In order to participate in this class, students will need an iPad, Apple Pencil (or any stylus) and the Procreate app.

This is a beginner class, students do not need any Procreate or drawing experience. We will learn the basics of drawing and using basic tools like:
- using different brushes and exploring the size, opacity and color
- color fill tool
- selection tool
- symmetry
- shape tool
- layers
- shading
 Plus, other tips and tricks!

I will provide step by step instructions for your learner to follow along with, however, I always encourage learners to get creative with their work and really make it their own. This is a great class for beginners just learning how to use the Procreate app. It could also be useful for intermediate users looking to socialize and get new ideas for using the Procreate app. Remember, each learner will need an iPad, a stylus (preferably the Apple Pencil) and the Procreate app (this is an additional cost). It is also highly recommended that students have a separate device for Outschool so they can follow along easily. For the best learning experience, please make sure your devices are charged and you arrive to class on time.

*** Please note - Our class time is set to 40 minutes, but we could finish later depending on the class size and individual learners.

Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from University of Central Florida
Hello! My name is Shanise Hilley. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida, Go Knights! I have my K-6 Teaching Certificate in the state of Florida. I’m currently a 2nd grade teacher and a mom to a 6 year old. When I find the time, I love reading, drawing and creating educational resources.

I have over 12 years of experience working with children. I have been an online educator for over 5 years and have been in the classroom for 1. I started my online teaching journey teaching English as a second language and have a TESOL certification. I have always been passionate about teaching and I strive to motivate students to work hard, encourage students to try their best and inspire students to enjoy learning.

While enrolled in school, I worked at Disneyworld and Universal. I’ve been trained to immerse guests in a full experience and as a teacher, I really strive to immerse students in class by making it themed, interactive and hands-on. I love turning learning into an experience and my hope is that students will have fun while learning. Learning through play and discovery is important to me because it fosters skills learners will use for the rest of their life.

I have a few classes in different areas to support my passion of drawing and art. I have always loved drawing and currently, I offer a few animal drawing classes for younger students. I also have some digital drawing courses for older kiddos looking to further develop their use of the Procreate app. Drawing is such a great way to develop fine motor skills and help foster creativity and self-confidence.

I am so excited to meet your child and look forward to learning and having fun with them soon.

Sincerely,
🤍 Mrs. Shanise

————— CLASS EXPECTATIONS —————
There are three rules in my class; listen, raise your hand and be kind to others. This helps ensure that the classroom runs smoothly and is a safe learning environment for everyone.

I do not mute students unless there is a lot of background noise that may be affecting the learning of other students. I will let students know why they are being muted ahead of time.

I will wait in class for 10 minutes, if no one arrives, I will leave the classroom.

Each class has a set start and end time. Class will start on time so please make sure your learner is in class and ready to go! The end time can vary. We may finish a few minutes early or a few minutes later. This depends on the students in class and each class differs. I do my best to finish on time.

——— SIBLINGS ———
If you have more than one learner enrolled in the class, each learner that wants to participate must be enrolled. Enrolled siblings can share a screen during class.

——— ATTENDANCE ———
Per Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class."

Please try to arrive to class on time. Late arrivals may delay the entire class. I will try my best to catch up late students, but it is not always possible with the time restrictions we have.

——— CLASS CANCELLATIONS ———
If a class has not met the minimum number of enrollments, it is subject to being canceled. I will send a message asking if you'd like a transfer to another date & time or full refund if the class is canceled. Automatic refunds are issued for no responses after original class start time. In some cases, I am able to teach a one-on-one class and will message you to see if this is okay with you and your learner.
