Class Experience

Hello little artists! Get your drawing pads, pencils and markers ready, we’re going to doodle away!

Each week, our little artists will be introduced to a new theme! The teacher will direct learners in a guided lesson to draw a cute, kawaii-style drawing. These drawings will be cartoon-style and easy to follow along. The lesson will be taught step-by-step so learners do not need to have any drawing experience. However, they should be able to follow simple instructions. This will be a fun class that students can draw and color and interact with other learners. I always encourage students to chat with each other! Once we finish drawing our picture, we will color our art together. At the end of class, students will be encouraged to share their art, but they aren’t pressured to do so.

*Note - I try to finish in 25 minutes but depending on the learners we may run over by a few minutes.

Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from University of Central Florida
Hello! My name is Shanise Hilley. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida, Go Knights! I have my K-6 Teaching Certificate in the state of Florida. I’m currently a 2nd grade teacher and a mom to a 6 year old. When I find the time, I love reading, drawing and creating educational resources.

I have over 12 years of experience working with children. I have been an online educator for over 5 years and have been in the classroom for 1. I started my online teaching journey teaching English as a second language and have a TESOL certification. I have always been passionate about teaching and I strive to motivate students to work hard, encourage students to try their best and inspire students to enjoy learning.

While enrolled in school, I worked at Disneyworld and Universal. I’ve been trained to immerse guests in a full experience and as a teacher, I really strive to immerse students in class by making it themed, interactive and hands-on. I love turning learning into an experience and my hope is that students will have fun while learning. Learning through play and discovery is important to me because it fosters skills learners will use for the rest of their life.

I have a few classes in different areas to support my passion of drawing and art. I have always loved drawing and currently, I offer a few animal drawing classes for younger students. I also have some digital drawing courses for older kiddos looking to further develop their use of the Procreate app. Drawing is such a great way to develop fine motor skills and help foster creativity and self-confidence.

I am so excited to meet your child and look forward to learning and having fun with them soon.

Sincerely,
🤍 Mrs. Shanise

————— CLASS EXPECTATIONS —————
There are three rules in my class; listen, raise your hand and be kind to others. This helps ensure that the classroom runs smoothly and is a safe learning environment for everyone.

I do not mute students unless there is a lot of background noise that may be affecting the learning of other students. I will let students know why they are being muted ahead of time.

I will wait in class for 10 minutes, if no one arrives, I will leave the classroom.

Each class has a set start and end time. Class will start on time so please make sure your learner is in class and ready to go! The end time can vary. We may finish a few minutes early or a few minutes later. This depends on the students in class and each class differs. I do my best to finish on time.

——— SIBLINGS ———
If you have more than one learner enrolled in the class, each learner that wants to participate must be enrolled. Enrolled siblings can share a screen during class.

——— ATTENDANCE ———
Per Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class."

Please try to arrive to class on time. Late arrivals may delay the entire class. I will try my best to catch up late students, but it is not always possible with the time restrictions we have.

——— CLASS CANCELLATIONS ———
If a class has not met the minimum number of enrollments, it is subject to being canceled. I will send a message asking if you'd like a transfer to another date & time or full refund if the class is canceled. Automatic refunds are issued for no responses after original class start time. In some cases, I am able to teach a one-on-one class and will message you to see if this is okay with you and your learner.
