Dog Man fans will come together to read, discuss, and enjoy these amazing books by Dav Pilkey! The goal will be to read a new book every two weeks and this class will cover the first four books (if you're further in the series, check out my other classes that cover the rest of the series). We will do fun things like draw characters from the book, make our own Dog Man book covers, do word searches and art scavenger hunts. Week 1Lesson 1Dog Man Book 1We will go over plot and conflict, story elements, talk about characters, and draw one of the main characters from the book at the end of class.Week 2Lesson 2Dog Man Book 1Today we will do a word search or other book-related activity, each child will have a chance to talk about his/her favorite part of the book, and we will make our own Dog Man book covers!Week 3Lesson 3Dog Man Book 2We will go over plot and conflict, story elements, talk about characters, and draw one of the main characters from the book at the end of classWeek 4Lesson 4Dog Man Book 2Today we will do a word search or other book-related activity, each child will have a chance to talk about his/her favorite part of the book, and we will be discussing some vocabulary words form the book. Please come to class prepared with a couple of vocab words that you circled while reading! This class is taught in English.
Students will learn about story elements, plot and conflict resolution in the Dog Man Books, they'll be introduced to new vocabulary, and we will discuss character traits and character development as pertaining to the Dog Man books. Students will also follow tutorials on how to draw select characters from the series and we will use our artistic and creative skill sets in creating comic strips and our very own DOg Man book covers!

Assessments will be casual and done in class. For instance, I will be able to guide discussions in order to evaluate students' reading comprehension and their understanding of concepts like story elements and vocabulary. While I will not be providing written assessments, I always welcome parents to contact me if there are questions about how a student is doing in class!Grades Offered
Students should have access to the Dav Pilkey Dog Man books so they can be read as per the schedule. Students should also bring paper and pencil to each class.
