Digital Drawing 1 | Introduction to Creating Art on Procreate!
What's included
10 live meetings
10 in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. I call my homework "follow-up activities" because they are NOT mandatory. I offer a follow-up activity after each class for those students who would like to practice further what we learned in class that day. These activities also give ample opportunities for students to earn my star student awards and grow as artists.Assessment
I give time at the end of each class for students to present their work as part of our weekly "art critique." This is for me to see where the students are at on their artistic journey, as well as get them comfortable with sharing their work with their peers and offer tips and tricks to each other. I never force students to share their work out of respect, but have found that with this gentle approach most students come around to it when they feel comfortable and after seeing how much fun the other students have doing it.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner Level
Looking to help your gifted child use their tablet for more than just games? With stylus in hand and tablet in the other we'll cover topics like animating GIFs, making digital brushes, building art communities, and MORE! *Please see the course syllabus for further details. I've been an artist my entire life and have worked professionally in the animation industry for many years, so I am acutely aware of the struggles young artists go through on their journey to finding their unique, artistic voice. I teach with this understanding of how young creative minds think and work and have catered my class flow accordingly. When I teach, I don't show your children how to tell stories just like ME, but instead I'm gently guiding them to discover their own style and creative voice as individual artists. I also prioritize community building so that my students can grow together and learn from their peers while making lasting relationships and opportunities to share and collaborate on projects. All of these core values are taught using my "Star Student" characters I created to help inspire my students to grow in all areas of their lives as artists. Each character represents an art/life skill or education standard, and students are encouraged to collect as many as they can throughout each course. Some stars, like the "Co-Star", is awarded to the students who co-teach a drawing demonstration to the class, while the "Rockstar" is awarded to students who go above and beyond with their assignments. I can't wait to meet you in my stellar classroom soon!
Learning Goals
Students will start by being introduced to the drawing app, Procreate, and by the end will be completely comfortable navigating it to create an assortment of art pieces.
I'll walk students step-by-step through the entire digital art creation process from digital brushes, troubleshooting, various art styles, exporting art, animating drawings, and more!
