This is not group therapy! In this class we will discuss scenarios, feelings as well as aspects that make students uncomfortable around other people and learn techniques to overcome these. During each day we will discuss some basic skills, common conflicts, conflicts that each individual student has had that they struggled to understand how to handle, work on relationships and building and understanding how to be empathetic to others emotions. Day1: We will focus on family. We will assess issues students sometimes feel like they have at home and see what can be modified to make their interactions more meaningful and successful. Day 2: Beginning of class we will review what was previously discussed in our last meeting. We will then start reviewing school and classroom interactions. How students react and behave around teachers and administration. We will go over common stressors that come up in school settings, as well as personal experiences students have faced (as long as they are comfortable) to see what outcomes they had verses what they expected and how it could have ben done differently. Day 3: We will Review at the beginning of class the previous course. For this day our focus after review will be friendships. We will discuss the importance of friendships, how to make friends, as well as how to maintain and build a healthy friendship. We will discuss what thee students value about their current friends, or if they feel like they don't rally have any, what we can do to change that. Day 4: On our final day students will review the previous class. We will touch on making interactions with new people as well as go over more scenarios that relate to the content from the first three courses to make sure students have gained an understanding of all of the content they were provided. With each class students will be provided a list of scenarios that they can review at home with parents or other loved ones to keep practicing proper responses.
