US Grade 7
****Note: I will not be teaching this class during the 2022-2023 school year because I am teaching at an in-person school. I WILL still be running the FLEX version of this class, though! If you look at my profile, you can find the FLEX class.**** This class will review all fraction operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) as well as equivalent fractions. Each class will begin with a conceptual and procedural review of the fraction operation of the day. Then we will look at the recipe of the day and use what we learned to solve recipe challenges. For example, the students may have a recipe that makes 12 cookies, and they need to convert the recipe to make 15 cookies. They will need to convert the amounts of each ingredient using fraction multiplication and/or division. Lastly, we will mix all of our ingredients together as a class and prepare them for baking. The students will do the actual baking after class with their parents/guardians. This class covers 4th, 5th and 6th grade standards. It is a great way for upcoming 6th and 7th grade students to review all fraction operations before starting the school year. Here is a schedule of the operations covered in each class: Monday: Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies/Equivalent Fractions Tuesday: Banana Pancakes/Adding Fractions Wednesday: Apple Tarts/Subtracting Fractions Thursday: Carrot Bread/Multiplying Fractions Friday: Cupcakes/Dividing Fractions

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Andi and I am so excited to be teaching math classes on Outschool! I have taught high school and middle school math at both public and international schools for the past five years. I have a Maine teaching certification for grades 5-12 math.
I love to teach math classes that are fun and hands-on and I enjoy helping students build a conceptual understanding of math. My course offerings include activities like using Algebra Tiles, practicing math through cooking and baking, playing math games, and teaching different and interesting techniques for solving problems. I love working with all students at all levels in math.
In my free time I enjoy travelling, running, surfing, cooking, reading and hanging out with my cat, Willard!
If you have any questions about my classes or have a course request, feel free to send me a message. I look forward to meeting your learner soon!
