Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn strategies for executive functioning skills: self-understanding, organization, time management, emotion control, behavior control, flexibility, initiative, attention, working memory, and persistence.
I am in my 12th year of teaching Special Education. During this time I have been a case manager who has worked with students with Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities helping them with organization, time management, self-regulation, and other executive functioning deficits. I have taught classes in social skills and worked with students in the class setting and individually with executive functioning skills and helping to provide them with the tools to overcome these deficits.
Students will be given reading assignments and self-evaluations that are to be completed before coming to class. Students will complete assignments individually, but discuss their reflections in a group setting. Daily homework should take no more than 45 minutes per day.
