Currency Calculations

Each week of this class learners will be introduced to a new currency. With each new currency learners will explore:
-values
-people and symbols
-words
-size 
-and more!

After we have discussed the new currency, learners will use that currency to work on math skills. These math skills include, but are not limited to:
-graphs
-place value
-measurement
-basic fractions
-arrays and simple multiplication

One new currency, and one new math skill per week. Each math skill will be taught using the "I do, we do, you do" format. A worksheet will also be provided for the learners to work along side me during the lesson. If you or your learner have a request for a math skill please reach out and I will be more than happy to include it in the curriculum. 
Each lesson will be taught using a combination of slide show and the whiteboard on Zoom. 

Here is a breakdown of what you can expect from each class:
-Welcome and introductions (3-5 min.)
-Currency exploration (10-15 min.)
-Math skills ("I do" 5 min. "we do" 5-10 min. "you do" 10 min.)
-Goodbyes

The times listed above may seem short, but I will be working with the learners to ensure understanding. If another week is needed for a skill, we will have a new currency and worksheet the following week and work through the skill again. I like to keep a good social environment in my classes. I am always open to questions and I am happy to help learners work their mistakes and misunderstandings. 
Here is a schedule of what will be taught:
January 3: Week 1-Euro/Graphing
January 10: Week 2-Real/Arrays
January 17: Week 3-Peso/Place Value through 10,000
January 24: Week 4-Pound/measurement


Basic math knowledge is required for this class. This is roughly a 2nd to 3rd grade level math class, so an understanding of math lower than that is required.
