What's included

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each week there will be a worksheet, two short writing prompts, and a fun assignment. An optional scavenger hunt activity is also given each week. Assignments are done individually, not as a class. Learners have an option to record themselves reading their writing to share with the class if they want to. This is a self-paced class. Students all learn and work at their own pace so the amount of time spent on homework will vary, however they are short assignments. The last writing prompt assignment is slightly longer as it is a short story. There is no specified length given, but it must have a beginning, middle, and end. This is an opportunity for students to show what they learned. It is also a wonderful chance to practice writing a short story.

Class Experience

This is a self-paced class. Students will learn how to write a setting, how to infer character traits, how to write character traits, write dialogue, and how to show-not-tell when writing. The lessons and assignments will be given on Monday of each week and learners can complete them at their own pace. Each week will have a video lesson with a hand-out to refer to, two short picture prompt writing assignments, one worksheet to print out, and a fun assignment. Learners also have an opportunity to record themselves reading their writing to share with the class if they want to. An OPTIONAL scavenger hunt activity is offered to reinforce each week's lesson as well. I encourage students to ask questions if they have any, I will do my best to answer every question within 24 hours, if not sooner. All photos for picture prompts are original and taken by myself or my husband. I'm also a photographer. This class is not for a grade, but students will get a certificate they can print out and proudly sign their name on to display at home.
