This course aims at helping the students to write in different styles such as to stretch a sentence, opinion writing, narrative writing, writing a postcard and descriptive writing. This will not only help to get the students hooked to writing but will also help to bring out the authors in them and give expressions to all their ideas in writing. Week1: Stretch a sentence; We begin with some fun games such as completing a story, guess what next etc, where in the students will be encouraged to use their imagination to guess what would happen next. How to add to a given sentence using a variety of vocabulary. This will help the students to ease down and express themselves freely. Week2: Opinion Writing; The students will have to choose between some interesting choices given to them (eg: would you go to a beach or a hill top for a picnic) and will have to write as to why they think is the best choice for them. They will be encouraged to provide valid reasons for their choices. Week3: Narrative Writing; I will explain what is narration and how a good narration looks like. The purpose of a narrative is simple, to tell the audience a story. It can be written to motivate, educate or most commonly entertain. Narratives can be both fact or fiction. The students will then be given activities where will try their hand at narrative writing. Week4: Postcard writing; The purpose of writing a postcard will be discussed. Postcards can be a means to simply say "Hi." People often send postcards from vacation or use local postcards as greeting cards. Also, postcards can be used to show someone how nice of a time you are having on your vacation. A hand written postcard will be shown to the students. The students will then be asked to try to write a postcard. Week5: Descriptive writing; The children will be told the difference between narrative writing and descriptive writing. The essentials of a descriptive writing will be taught. The primary purpose of descriptive writing is to describe a person, place or thing in such a way that a picture is formed in the reader's mind. Capturing an event through descriptive writing involves paying close attention to the details by using all of your five senses. The students will be given activity where they write a piece of descriptive writing. Please Note: This class requires a minimum of TWO students in order to proceed. If the minimum enrollment for the class is not met approximately 24 hours before the start time it will be canceled and you will receive a FULL refund. I encourage you to sign up for the next available time. Thank you for understanding.
