US Grade 4 - 6
In this class, students' creativity will be put to the test. They might be asked to write a short story that contains three dogs and a tortoise, or a story about a boy and his big sister. Students might be given a story starter to get their creative wheels turning before they begin their own continuation of it. The possibilities are endless! After receiving their challenge, students will be given 25-30 minutes to write their short story independently. During this time, they are free to discuss ideas and brainstorm alongside their peers. Afterward, students will have the opportunity to read their work aloud. Stories may be handwritten on paper or completed digitally since there is no need to submit anything. While the specifics of prompts and ideas are shared in class to keep the challenge a mystery, below is an example of a story starter. "He quickly hides behind the tree as he hears footsteps approaching. Did they see him? Unsure of what to do next, he drops to the floor and begins crawling toward a large covering." - What happens next is up to the students! They might decide that this story is about an intense game of hide and seek with friends, or about a spy on a mission to recover lost jewels. Students will always be reminded to use appropriate language and ideas in their stories. Violence is not permitted.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, everyone! My name is Kristina Rizzo, or Mrs. Rizzo. I have taught at the elementary level for several years and have 7 nieces and nephews. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and my Masters of Education in Literacy Education. Needless to say, I consider myself very knowledgeable about working with children. When students are allowed to explore and discover, they develop a deeper love of learning.
I will be teaching various types of classes. My primary focus will be on reading groups, with some fun groups mixed in!
Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing games such as Planet Zoo, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and similar games. I have two aquariums and am hoping to get a dog soon! I also like to exercise and bake, but not at the same time.
