Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this course, students will learn new strategies that will help build confidence as effective communicators. We will focus on building fundamental skills such as fluency, tone, and presentation. Learners will practice fluency shaping strategies (i.e., easy onset, relaxed breathing, slowed speech, light contact, etc.) in simple sentences, during structured language tasks. Students will practice fluency shaping strategies to produce smooth speech at the sentence and paragraph reading level.

In this upbeat class, will play games involving bingo boards, trivia, memory, and guessing games to enhance learning. We will also practice stress-reducing strategies while speaking.

My name is Teacher Shannon from New York. I am an enthusiastic teacher who provides a warm and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning. I hold a B.S. in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. My experience includes clinical experience in San Francisco, California. I have 15 years of experience working with children in a variety of settings.

This is my first year teaching fun drawing classes for all ages. My classes are a great opportunity for language immersion! Engaging in arts and social interaction can boost confidence and make us feel more engaged and resilient.

Drawing also plays a big role in cognitive development. Drawing helps children to write and think creatively, develop hand-eye coordination, hone analytical skills, and conceptualize ideas. I look forward to helping mold your child into a creative, life-long learner!

Professional Highlights:
Taught English to children in China
Worked at a nationally recognized college preparatory school in Brighton, N.Y.
Clinical internship experience at a pediatric speech and language center in San Francisco, CA
Worked at an arts and movement academy in Pittsford-Mendon N.Y.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and hiking with my dog, Sadie. :)
