In this ongoing course, students will work through multi-digit operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of larger numbers (beginning with 3 digits and up in addition and subtraction, and two by two in multiplication and division), with each week focusing on a different strategy. Students will work with the teacher to solve problems, and will work through strategies using standard algorithm (while strategies such as area model will not be used, students are...
Students will learn how to work with multi-digit operations to strengthen their understanding of working with larger numbers for operations.
I am a 5th grade math teacher, and have taught math review on Outschool since January of 2019. I have worked with various students from various backgrounds to help them master mathematics for over 10 years as a teacher, including private tutoring. I am very familiar with digital learning and how to work with students online. I also integrate review for students to practice to show me how they are progressing. I stay on after the session ends if students need a bit more review.
Students will receive practice weekly after each lesson to enhance their understanding of topics covered in this course.
Students will need paper and pencil for class, or a whiteboard to work out their work. Students will be provided additional practice problems after the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will submit answers to teacher via chat during class to demonstrate mastery. Students may also participate and solve problems on screen verbally. Students will also be given access to a review game weekly from Quizizz.com to practice mastery of content.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please practice material with students that is provided to help support learning. Students may need help navigating technology, such as chat. Please help them if needed to send responses.
We will use practice material that is created by the teacher, along with individual practice from math-aids.com
