Class Experience

Students will learn to resolve conflicts and express how they are feeling in a firm, but respectful (assertive) manner. We will learn what an I-Message is, and how to give an I-Message. We will come up with real-life situations that would require an I-Message and practice giving one. We will discuss wording and tone of voice. Students will also learn how to give an appropriate, detailed, and sincere apology when needed. We will practice this as well.

I Message:

I feel ____
when ____
because ____
I would like you to please ___

Apology:

I am sorry for ____ (action)
In the future I will ____ (plan for change)

We wil use the book The way I Feel by Janan Cain to help us talk about feelings.
