In this ongoing colored pencil drawing class, students will learn to draw family favorite pets (goldfish, bunny, corgi dog, calico cat, horse, and bearded dragon lizard).

Class experience

Goldfish (Full Body)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a goldfish (full body). 
2. Students will learn techniques for blending, applying, and layering colored pencil.
3. Students will learn techniques to create saturated colors using colored pencil.
4. Students will learn techniques for burnishing colored pencils.
5. Students will learn a few facts about goldfish.

Bunny (Head to Chest)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a bunny (head to chest). 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn shading techniques for layering colored pencil and building up color saturation.
4. Students will learn techniques for blending colored pencil using baby oil.
5. Students will learn a few facts about bunnies.

Corgi Dog (Head to Chest)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a corgi dog (head to chest). 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for mixing colored pencils to create new colors.

Calico Cat (Full Body)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a calico cat (full body). 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for creating fur texture with colored pencils.
4. Students will learn a few facts about cats.

Horse (Head to Chest)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a horse (head to chest). 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for creating a long, flowing horse mane with colored pencil (students may change the coloring of their horse drawing to make any kind of horse they want).
4. Students will learn a few facts about horses.

Bearded Dragon Lizard (Head to Chest)

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a bearded dragon (face to chest). 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for creating scaly texture for a bearded dragon's skin using colored pencils.
4. Students will learn a few facts about bearded dragons.

***I will be using Prismacolor colored pencils, but students can use what they have. Goldfish -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: orange, yellow, blue (dark and light if possible), turquoise, dark brown, white Bunny -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: green (dark and light if possible), peach, brown, yellow, black, white -Baby Oil and Q-Tips (to blend colors) Corgi Dog -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: pink, peach, brown, black, white Calico Cat -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: pink, black, white, orange, light green, brown, gray Horse -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: brown, black, white Bearded Dragon Lizard -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Colored Pencils: yellow, brown, black, white, peach
