In this special coding session children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to class. In this course students learn how to code with Block based code or Java (depending on their preference). Students will see how something that is fun and enjoyable can turn into a future profession. The course will focus on the computer coding process and allow for students to express their creative problem solving skills through coding. Students will learn the computer programming language of JavaScript through the kid friendly language of Block based code. They will solve coding puzzles that build in difficulty. Children will enjoy playing coding games, collaborate and help students through coding challenges, and learn coding skills such as building sequences, events, and conditionals like If/Then...and show off their costumes to others. Students will be encouraged to share their coding skills as they guide others through accomplishing assigned coding tasks. This course will work with each learner at their individual level. ***Students do need to be able to click and open a link in the chat or have a parent on hand for this one part.*** The course activities will Include: • Learn about coding sequences, events, loops, and conditionals • Code through a series of teacher provided challenges
