Class Experience

Because this class is student lead it is not possible to give a weekly breakdown. Instead, I have included this summary of how the class will be structured. We will start class with a hello song and introductions. We will then play games throughout the rest of the class.

Games will vary but may include the following: Simon Says, freeze dance, follow the leader, animal dance party, security guard, color hunt (this is a game where students take turns picking the color we are looking for and they run to find and bring back something of that color), balancing on one leg, fun action songs, and animal charades. I am always looking for new games to add and many of these games have been added to or invented by students. Students will have opportunities to suggest new games and help make changes to existing games in order to best tailor the class to each individual group. This enables me to best meet the needs of each student.

All of my classes are inclusive, this means that students of all abilities are welcome. If your student has any needs I should be aware of or needs any accommodation please let me know before class so we can work together to ensure the best possible class experience.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Gabrielle, I started teaching sewing lessons when I was a homeschool senior. I taught classes at a local home school group and discovered I had a passion for teaching. When I was 19 I discovered I was most likely autistic and was able to get an official diagnosis at 21. For me, this was a revelation and explained so much. It meant I was able to seek out others like me and was a huge game-changer for me.

For over 10 years now I have been teaching in different capacities and working with children with different disabilities and differences. I have been an in-home caregiver for a physically disabled child, a preschool teacher, a teacher's aid, a tutor and have been teaching online since January 2020. I also have an Associates' degree in special education.

I am proud to be autistic. This doesn't mean I don't have struggles but I firmly believe that we all have strengths and weaknesses. I strive to give all of my students a safe and welcoming place. All of my classes are inclusive which means students of all abilities are welcome. If your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure the best possible class experience.
