In this course students will learn basic pop-up techniques and make pop-up cards. No prior knowledge needed, just creativity! Students will cut, fold, and glue paper to create a standing Pop-up System (examples of fold will be provided in class) . This is a fun 3D project where students will experiment with a variety of paper (sketchbook, card stock, bond paper, colourful construction paper..) and practice cutting and folding to create a pop-up card that "pops-up" when opened. We will focus on the "scoring" technique and on learning a few basic ways how to make these cards. I will demonstrate each of the techniques and students will follow. This course will focus on counter folds and V-folds. We will learn how to use the "box" method to make : Class I - Christmas tree, Class II- Christmas presents and Santa Class III- House those 4 pop-up cards will make a little story that we will put together into a book which we will decorate and draw to finish the story.
Learning Goals
Students will experiment with a variety of paper of different sizes, colours and thickness and practice cutting and folding different shapes (organic and geometric). The result is to have fun and create a pop-up book by adding some drawings to complete the story. They can even decorate the card the way they like with the materials they already have.
