This is a 4 lesson course where students will learn the basics of the piano/keyboard. Each lesson we will learn a new song; students will walk away feeling successful every time. Access to an electric or acoustic piano is required.

Beginner Level
This is a four-week-long series designed to teach young learners about how the piano keyboard is laid out, learn simple songs, and provide a foundation for further instruction. In each lesson students will learn about and revisit the following topics: low and high on the piano; good posture at the piano; how to position their hands and arms when playing; and finger numbers. Students will be able to play four songs using the black keys of the piano by memory. Students will be able to identify different groups of keys on the piano. Students will be able to play a song with a steady beat.
I have 15 years of piano teaching experience to students ages 3 - 80. I received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I am in my fifth year of teaching music in a classroom. I recently received my Master of Education in Language, Literacy, and Culture, of which many of the literacy concepts studied I now apply to my music teaching.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned a song to practice each week. At the next lesson, students will be offered the opportunity to share with the class, but it is not required.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
