Class Experience

In this one-on-one tutoring session(s), students have the ability to learn at their own pace. If this is the first time the students are Learning American Sign Language, they will start by understanding the basics and structure of the language. The students will also learn about the history and culture of American Sign Language.
If the students have background knowledge and need to practice and enhance their skills, the one-on-one can be structured according to those needs.

Below is a brief description of the course content:

What will be taught?- American Sign Language

What topics will you cover? This course will touch upon various topics, including the history and culture of ASL and learning the alphabet and numbers. Students will learn new vocabulary words and terms and know how to sign sentences. They will watch videos and engage in discussions with the teacher.

How is your class structured? Two times a week for 45min. Students will sign on and be ready to learn. Students should try to complete any tasks assigned and have questions to discuss in each session. Since the class is self-paced, students do not need to rush to learn a topic. I encourage growth.

How will you teach? The teaching style will be English and American Sign Language via Zoom sessions. Students are encouraged to turn off their voices, which is a great way to build both receptive and expressive skills. They will also have fun activities to practice and create videos.
